Lately my dryer has been shutting off randomly after a few minutes of running. It gets super hot and then just stops. I checked the back and it looks like there’s a bunch of lint buildup. Could this be a vent issue? Not sure if I need a repair tech or something else.

When your dryer overheats and shuts off like that, it’s often a sign that airflow is restricted. In most cases, the dryer vent is clogged or partially blocked. I had a very similar issue and ended up scheduling a professional https://dryerventcleaningtoday.ca/dryer-vent-cleaning-in-richmond-hill/ dryer vent cleaning in Richmond Hill, which made a huge difference. They cleared out a ton of lint from the vent line that I didn’t even know was there. After the cleaning, my dryer worked like new — no more overheating or shutdowns. Apparently, lint can also become a fire hazard, so it's not something to ignore. If your vent hasn’t been cleaned in over a year, it’s definitely time. DIY kits don’t go deep enough sometimes, so a pro is worth it. Especially if your laundry area is far from an exterior wall — long vents are harder to clean properly. I’d say check your vent length and maybe book a service.
That happened to my dryer too. It was super frustrating until I figured out what was slowing it down.
