In order to create and cut vinyl or HTV and apply artwork, you will need a method of sending your digital designs to the vinyl cutter from your computer. If you haven't already purchased vinyl cutting software you can find Design and Cut Software here.
I have an older machine that did work fine but now I am having problems since Windows 10 came along. I have the MH871 cutter and have always hooked up with the usb cable. Now i hear the beep when I attach it to my computer but no prompts to download and I do not see that it has been recognized. Patience is not one of my virtues and the window is way to close.
Mac Mini/OSX 10.7.5 - No serial converter needed. I basically installed the Sure Cuts A Lot software that came with the cutter. Once installed and registered, the SCAL software advised me that there was an update available, and I performed the update to SCAL Ver 3.047. In the Help menu on SCAL there was an option to install drivers for MH series cutters, which I did. I then rebooted my Mac. After the reboot, I plugged the USB cable directly from the mac to the 871's USB port, fired up SCAL - dragged a shape onto the layout screen, and hit the cut button - Sure enough the cutter came alive and plotted out the pattern perfectly happily.
I just reccently switched to MacOS and I cant seem to get the plotter to work with my current software due to drivers. Anyone know or have the software/driver Im supposed to download to get this to work
If you don't want to install a windows emulator, one thing you might try, use the serial connection. By using a serial connection there should be no need for a driver, just tell the software what comm port to use and the correct language, HP-GL.
SIgnblazer is good to start, the one big drawback it has is that you can not set an overcut and the MH cutters really need a bit of overcut. Inkscape can be setup to cut from. It's not an ideal cutting program but it does allow you to add a bit of overcut. I used Inkscape exclusively for a couple of years before switching to Vinyl Master.
I just bought a MH 871-MK2 today from a friend. I have Windows 10 and I am having problems getting the Driver to Download. I might be using the wrong one. Any Help. Also I want to know if there is a way you can use Sure Cuts Alot 2 on this cutter I was told by the friend that all i needed was Sure Cuts Alot. Please help... I dont want to have to sell this Cutter because I can't use it.
You're going to have to provide a bit more info. It doesn't work, doesn't tell us what your actual problem is. Have you installed the Tripp-Lite drivers Have you configured your comm ports Have you setup SCAL4 to use the correct comm port Are you using a null modem cable Are you getting an error of any kind What exactly is happening
@Dakotagrafx Since i dont know much about the keyspan ,Why does she need one if it has a USB port according to uscutters website.I thought the keyspan was for the serial port Or am i wrong on that also lol.... .or is there a difference between a MH MK2 and a MH 871 . I dont follow these cutters and i guess i should so i know if they are the same or not. I couldnt fint the MH MK2 on the cutter page. Im gonna get schooled i feel it haha..
@Primal Decals because the value cutters have a poor chipset in them to convert for the usb - - - the mainboard actually has in input for serial information and it has an internal chipset to convert for the usb on the side of the cutter - it is well known to cause several problems and the keyspan has shown over the past 9+ years to alleviate a lot of those problems@MZ SKEETER is our resident keyspan expert and has helped countless people get going 1e1e36bf2d
